Access Statement for Dines Barn
Introduction
Dines Barn is a restored 18th Century flint and brick property in a rural location at the end of a single track lane in the Hampshire countryside.
Pre-Arrival
• Dines Barn has its own website and is registered on a number of holiday websites with links to our own website. Contact with the owner is via email and telephone. The website has floor plans and photos of all rooms. Directions to the property are sent once a booking is fully paid either by email or post.
• There is a copy of this access statement on the website and in the property and can be emailed or posted on request.
• Information on public transport is available in the information folder in the barn and can be supplied by the owner prior to arrival.
• Distance to local town (Andover 6 miles) is on the website.
• Information about grocery delivery is on the website.
• The nearest Taxi rank is at Andover station. Taxi contact details are in the information folder in the barn.
• The nearest shop mobility schemes are in Winchester and Salisbury.
Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
• Dines Barn is approached by a single track lane which becomes and unsurfaced track for the last 200 metres.
• A large gravel area at the front of the property provides parking for up to 8 vehicles.
• Cars can be accessed from the rear when parked.
• Cars can be parked adjacent to the front step of the barn.
• A key is kept in a key box. The location of the key box and the code is sent with the directions to the barn.
• Security lights light the parking area. A torch is provided for guests arriving after dark to access the key box.
• There is a step 6 inches high from the level gravelled area to the front door. A wooden ramp can be provided if needed.
Main Entrance, Reception & Ticketing Area
• There is a step of 6 inches to the front door of the property. once inside the property is completely level.
• The front door is fully glazed and opens with a single key.
• There is a light above the front door and security lighting on the parking area to the front of the property.
• The front door opens onto a spacious hallway with the living/dining/sitting room off it through double wooden doors. The family bathroom is straight ahead. The bedrooms are off the hallway.
Public Areas - Hall, Stairs, Landing, Corridors etc
• Wooden flooring runs throughout the entire property.
• There is uniform lighting throughout.
• The corridor (standard width) runs off the entrance hall. The bedrooms are accessed from the corridor.
• The family bathroom is located by the hallway.
Public Areas - Sitting room, lounges, lobbies etc
• The kitchen sitting and dining area are encompassed in one large space.
• There are double wooden doors into this area from the hallway.
• The family bathroom is located by the hallway.
Laundry
• The laundry is located next to the kitchen.
• There is a sink, worktop, washing machine, tumble dryer, iron and ironing board. The cupboard under the sink holds all the cleaning products.
Outdoor Facilities
• There is a light above the front door and the gravelled parking area is lit by security lights.
Bedrooms & Sleeping Areas
• All bedrooms are suitable for wheelchair users.
• The wooden flooring runs throughout the property.
• The bedrooms have ceiling lights and bedside lamps.
• Main bedroom - kingsize wooden framed bed with large area around it.
• Bedroom 2 - 2 twin wooden framed beds both against the wall with a suitable gap in between the two.
• Bedroom 3 - 2 twin wooden framed beds. One against the wall the other with space on either side.
Bathroom, Shower-room & WC [Ensuite or Shared]
• The wooden floor runs throughout the property.
• The main bedroom has an ensuite shower room with sink and toilet. Access through a wooden door that opens inwards.
• The family bathroom is accessed from the hallway through an inwards opening wooden door. There is a shower over the bath with a glass screen and hand rail in the bath, toilet and sink.
Self-Catering Kitchen
• The kitchen is located within the open plan living area.
• Wooden flooring Wood units and laminate worktops.
• The electric oven and ceramic hob are situated on the island.
• Separate fridge and freezer are built into the island unit.
• Spot lights are above the island and sink area.
• The dishwasher is located next to the sink unit.
Additional Information
• A cot and highchair are provided.
• Outdoor furniture comprises a table, 6 chairs with padded seats and umbrella.
• A barbeque and supply of charcoal is provided.
• Dogs are welcome by arrangement. There is ample space for them in the front hallway.
• Most mobile networks have coverage at the barn.
• A USB stick is provided for internet access
